A beard is a shape, not just length. Two guys with the same amount of hair on their face can look completely different depending on where the cheek line sits and how the neck is cut. That is the part most people get wrong at home, and it is the part our barbers spend the most time on at Shave Barbershop in Cape Coral.
What a real beard trim involves
We start by looking at the shape of your jaw and where your beard actually grows, then set two lines: the cheek line and the neckline. The neckline is the one that matters — too high and the beard looks cut off, too low and it reads unkempt. From there the beard gets trimmed to an even length, the moustache is tidied off the lip, and the edges are finished with a hot towel so the skin is calm instead of raw.
Book it with your haircut
Beard work is part of our most popular service: Haircut + Beard + Eyebrows, $45. That is a full haircut and style, the beard shaped, lined and hot-towelled, and an eyebrow clean-up, all in one hour in the chair. If you only want the haircut, that is the Classic Haircut, $35, which already includes a clean neck and edge line-up. Not sure which one you need? Ask when you sit down — the barber will tell you straight.
Beards and Florida humidity
Cape Coral weather is hard on facial hair. Humidity makes a beard puff out and lose its shape faster than it does up north, and salt air dries the skin underneath. Two things help: keep the perimeter tight with a trim every two to three weeks, and brush the beard down after showering so it dries in the direction it should sit. Your barber can show you the brush direction on your own face in about ten seconds.
